10 steps to keep peace in the world

10 steps to keep peace in the world

Several peacekeeping initiatives have been undertaken to put an end to violence in the world. However, it is common knowledge that despite such efforts, wars and conflicts still break out somewhere in the world.

Here are 10 steps to establishing peace in the world

1. Equitable wealth distribution

The survey conducted by the World Bank issued a report that rebels join a group due to the unfair wealth distribution. In fact, slow economic development within a region increases poverty and crime rates. On the other hand, monthly income taxes are too high that the revenues cannot cover all the expenses. The richer becomes richer; but the poorer becomes poorer. Thus, equitable wealth distribution among the rich and the poor is essential to reduce crime rates and prevent violence.

2. Urge each individual to find inner peace

The ambassador of peace, Prem Rawat, says that both peace and war are in each individual. Encouraging us to discover their peace within is important, so that they can tolerate cultural, social, religious and other differences and respect the others. If they are at peace with themselves, the world will be at peace.

3. Respect the authorities

Unless the inhabitants respect the authorities and leaders cannot peace be established. This starts from within each family, in which children are taught to respect their elders, obey their parents and listen carefully to their teachers. Hate-crime will be eradicated if the value about love and respect is taught from early childhood.

4. Save the environment

Another major factor to insecurity is due to lack of food supply. Even worse, nowadays, some coastal lands have become flooded and lost forever under the sea. The leading factor is global warming, which in turn, leads to climate change. The polar ice cap is melting, increasing the ocean water level. Still, in some parts of the world, frequent flooding has devastated agriculture, ruining crops. Thus, fighting climate change is a must that everyone has to strive into.

5. Teach the value of humility

The Bible says that humility and fear of God bring about wealth, honor, and life. Humility leads to tolerance and solidarity, which in turns ensures good relationship with the neighbors and mutual help.

6. Create an association for peace building

At school, it is a good idea to create an association of volunteers who work for peace. They can collect money and raise funds for charity to help the poor with their survival.

7. Love your neighbors

Instead of increasing rivalry and unhealthy competition among neighbors, it is necessary to reinforce solidarity and love among neighboring families. For example, if the members go shopping in the same direction, they can carpool together. This can also reduce expenses on fuel and save the environment.

8. Create radio plays, podcasts and soap operas about peace

Radios and televisions are the most common forms of entertainment. Radio plays and videos should display the happiness from a harmonious environment and society. Podcasts about peace can be played in class and followed by discussions.

9. Fostering gender equality

Conspicuous gender inequality leads to violence, whether directly or indirectly. Unfair distribution of wealth within some families is due to gender inequality. It is necessary to eliminate the difference between men and women to end violence within the family and within the nation.

10. Encourage humanitarian aid

It is obvious that the society we live in is characterized by a clear-cut social division, between the rich and the poor. To reduce such discrepancy, it is necessary to foster humanitarian initiatives in people. If you want to give alms or contribute to charity work, but do not know where to begin, you can join "The Prem Rawat Foundation" and bring your support to peacekeeping in the world through charitable acts.
